If the Google Map box
embedded on your site, points to a street number or was generated using the general latitude
and longitude of your business, you should follow these simple steps to improve search engine performance and functionality.
- Search for your company in maps.google.com
- Hit the Share button on your Business Listing
- Copy the code
- Remove the address based map code currently on the site
- Paste in the business focused code
Though a map link or embedded map may link to the company's correct physical
address, the code should be updated to point to the
business listing.
The Google Business Listing is
a much better resource for users because it includes the hours, phone number,
rating, pictures of the building, etc.
Also, one of the trust symbols that Google
now factors into the ranking algorithm, is whether or not a website links to a
Google Business Listing and whether or not that listing reciprocates that link
back to the domain. So you may be able to win some bonus points here with a simple code swap out.
